It is indicated in the treatment of vitamin B12 deficiency due to a lack of absorption

- biermer's disease,

- ablation of the stomach or part of the intestine,

Imerslund-Gräsbeck syndrome (IGS) is a rare genetic disorder that causes a deficiency of vitamin B12, also known as cobalamin: 

  • Symptoms

    The main symptom is megaloblastic anaemia, a blood disorder that causes abnormally large red blood cells and a shortage of red blood cells. Other symptoms include: 

    • Failure to gain weight and grow at the expected rate 

    • Pale skin 

    • Excessive tiredness 

    • Recurring gastrointestinal or respiratory infections 

    • Mild neurological problems, such as weak muscle tone, numbness or tingling in the hands or feet, movement problems, delayed development, or confusion 

As an initial treatment: three times a week, by intramuscular injection, i.e. 10 ampoules in total.

In maintenance treatment: one ampoule by intramuscular injection per month.
